…because it was especially good as I look back and recap.
After a busy week at the office, Friday arrived like a breath of fresh air and I fixed myself up a little healthy wrap for dinner: slices of avocado, tomato and mozzarella with some salt & pepper, tossed on the George Foreman grill. Simple, healthy and delicious. Perfect to eat prior to our night at the Atlantic Beer Garden where we pushed through crowds to enjoy cocktails and a gorgeous view from their rooftop patio.
I prowled all around Boston on our hot & humid Saturday, checking out apartments and falling in love with one in particular in the North End (rental application in, keeping my fingers crossed!) and enjoyed some creamy homemade guacamole sitting atop the deck at Tavern on the Water in Charlestown. I should have worn sunscreen.
And then Saturday night, I ventured back downtown for dinner with the boy, his parents and grandparents, at the tasty Atlantic Fish (right next to Crate and Barrel & Anthropologie…what a tease). My pan-seared scallops nestled on top of pistachio basil pesto linguine with pico de gallo was light yet incredibly satisfying and I had to use every inch of self-control to not gobble up everything (including the boy’s crab-topped haddock and the steaming fresh bread on the table).
And even has Sunday arrived, the boy stayed creative with a salmon and veggie omelette filled wrap for brunch and when I attempted to order in dinner before the big Celtics game, he instead cooked up pork chops with rice, potatoes and onions for a legitimate, real supper.
Can you tell how full and satisfied I was? But overall, it was real food, fresh and good. And even though I ate a lot, I just felt full; not gross from preservatives and crap.
My weekend was busy. My weekend was hot and humid and one with little sleep and too much fun late into the nights. But my weekend was tasty and cuisine inspiring.
So here’s to another busy week ahead with work and reality and life. But I think some tasty treats will need to be entering into this schedule as well : )
