My Type of Sunday Funday

It was a very calm weekend overall… and that is fine by me!

I am someone who needs a weekend like this.

I love my crazy, fun weekends, but having one that allows me to catch up on life, every now and then, makes the busy weekends so much more manageable.

I went for a couple runs, rented a movie, got that haircut I needed so badly, caught up with most of my magazine pile, and lots more fun organization. It was great.

This afternoon, I let myself take a break from the to-do list crossing off mission I was on, and sat out for an hour, on the greenway in front of the North End and just soaked up the sun (sunscreen on though of course).

I’m letting myself fully embrace summer and the simple joys that accompany it. New England is so beautiful, but our summers go too quickly, and even though I didn’t get every little thing done that I wanted to, I’m so glad that I achieved a nice combination of productivity & relaxation today.

why did it take me so long...

to discover the limitless glory of BaubleBar!!??

Since discovering this little gem a few weeks ago, I have been achingggg to make a purchase. But what to attack first?

Their neon collection?! My adoration of neons has grown exponentially over the past couple weeks (thus, my purchase of a neon pink shirtdress and several neon studded earrings at the local SoWa market this past weekend).

Or since I tend to rely all too heavily on my stud earrings, maybe I should venture into BaubleBar’s boho danglers?!

But no, I must go back and go through the collection that had me from the beginning: their personalized pieces.

I fell in love with the classic Monogram Pendant Necklaces awhile back, and their steady appearance on Atlantic-Pacific makes my heart flutter all too often.

But now that that decision has been made…

gold or silver?? 

Maybe it did take a crisis to get to know yourself. Maybe you needed to get whacked hard by life before you understood what you wanted out of it.

simple & cool joys of summer

Today brought the first official day of summer…and with it, 95 degree weather. It was a hot one.

And while I had an opportunity to attend a business-oriented cocktail party, I decided instead to do something that I knew would make me much happier…

Heading home to my little apartment, cranking the air conditioner, catching up on my current DVR favorites (aka The Conversation), and giving myself a bright new manicure (thank you “Watermelon” by essie).

And while I didn’t sip and mingle with anyone worth knowing, I had an absolutely lovely evening…cool, comfortable, soaking up the words of wisdom from the ladies interviewed on The Conversation. I am climbing into bed, refreshed and ready to take on the rest of this sweaty week. 

The late night treat of Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food Frozen Yogurt didn’t hurt either…

I'm back~can we be friends again!?

I’ve been meaning to post this entry, bringing everyone (or at least bringing my blog) up to speed on all the changes that have occurred over the past couple months, and am finally getting around to it. I’m finally getting around to having time to cook actual meals, to fit in exercise, to tidy up my apartment and tidy up my life, time to actually breathe.

And it is fantastic. This time. Finally having it.

Long story short, I made a professional change and haven’t looked back since.

I left the crazy 24/7 world of events and joined a small PR firm, with a focus on food and wine. A lot of factors played a part in my decision but I am incredibly happy with my choice and excited about this summer and beyond. Positivity has entered my life and it’s contagious.

Not only has my work schedule become more relaxed and enjoyable, but I hope this also allows me to finally focus on my blogging and freelance writing aspirations.

This is an incredibly abbreviated version of the happenings, decisions and emotions over the past few months, but I don’t feel like re-living and transcribing it all. I am in a new place, looking forward, moving forward, and taking care of myself. I have a lot going on, with the new job, looking for a new apartment for the fall and lots of fun professional and personal summer parties, trips and events.

I have ideas for this blog/Tumblr and look forward to jumping back in once again, full throttle, over the next couple weeks. I’m thinking of having a designer help me make my blog look more like “me”-if I’m going to do this with my whole heart in it, might as well do it big! Go big or go home! (Any blog/graphic designer recommendations-send my way!!)

I’m so excited to be back in the fantastically wonderful blogging community-cheers!
